N/a’an ku sê: Supporting the San community
N/a’an ku sê is committed to improving the lives of the San Bushman community through healthcare, education, employment and improved living conditions. Their Lifeline Clinic in Epukiro provides vital free medical care to a remote community in the East of Namibia whilst their Clever Cubs schools, located at the wildlife sanctuary near Windhoek, provides education and the chance of a better brighter future to over 30 San Bushman children.
They do not receive any government funding and are solely reliant on generous donations and the time of volunteers to continue their vital work to help the people and animals of Namibia.

How you can help:
Sponsor a Child
• Fewer than one in five Bushmen children attend primary school
• Many Bushmen children suffer from malnutrition, disease, discrimination and abuse.

Child sponsorships help to fund San improvement initiatives including covering mainstream school fees, uniforms and transport and the teacher and education tools for N/a’an ku sê & Clabile’s pre-primary school, Clever Cubs.

Visit N/a’an su sê’s Sponsor a Child webpage or email donationsnaankuse@iway.na to find out more.

Donating shoes
Most of the children go without shoes, which during the winter months, is a particular problem as many of the children get worms in their feet from walking in the wet sand. This is a very debilitating and uncomfortable infection for the children and is completely avoidable just by wearing shoes.
Help prevent the children from getting worm infections by donating a pair of children’s shoes; they can be new or a used pair which are no longer needed. Shoes of any sizes, for small children up to teenagers, would make a huge difference to those who cannot afford to buy their own.

Shoes for donation can be brought to Chameleon Backpackers Lodge or direct to   N/a'an ku sê.

Help feed a child
• Bushmen are treated as third class citizens and live in extreme poverty.
• We see and treat over 1,300 Bushmen children at the Lifeline Clinic each year
• 75% of the Bushmen children we see are malnourished

Approximately 75% of the Bushmen children have a degree of malnourishment with 15% suffering from severe malnourishment. On top of this, half of the nearly 200 children suffering from severe malnutrition are also acutely unwell with illnesses such as pneumonia, diarrhoea and other infections.

In order to try and give these children some hope of returning to health, they need your help to feed them with nutritional supplements and give them the strength to overcome their acute infections.
